These are a few of my cone thumbnails.. In drawing ii, we had the opportunity to do a series of drawings. I am not crazy about the usual still life objects, so I chose to do simple shapes. I had a great time animating the objects. I will post more later.. :))

blue and orange
My newest piece is blue and orange. I wasnt assigned a particular thing to do, I have been playing with complimentary colors. I like to mix (as you can see). This one is 18x24. Of course after I spend two days on this one, it counts as something else and we get assigned 5 paintings with complimentary colors for the spring break! woo hoo!! I will be in the studio all week if anyone needs me, haha :))

temperature deviation
today I finished up a temp deviation piece. we were told to have a dominant temp with a slight deviation. I chose to do mine warm with a bit of coolness to it. I finished it with the only cool being tiny squares.. the warm colors took over the small squares and made the whole thing warm.. I decided to go back and add the cool band around it, it definitely cooled it down.. I expect that our next assignment will be to do the opposite which will be a cool one with a slight warmth. I am going to struggle with it, because all of my others pieces tend to want to be warm. Hopefully it won't be too difficult!

hollywood squares
I have been working on a series of paintings in which I have been exploring color relationships. By taking out the complexity of the shapes, I can focus more on the color. This pattern was chosen after several trial and errors. It is my third one of this particular pattern type. I started really small, around 5x7, then I went to 16x20, and now I am at 18x24. My instructor has been encouraging me to go larger. I purchased a 3 foot by 4 foot but I have yet to start on it. It seems a bit scary :/... I am now working on a warm painting with a small amount of coolness.... pictures to come :)
