hollywood squares

I have been working on a series of paintings in which I have been exploring color relationships.  By taking out the complexity of the shapes, I can focus more on the color.  This pattern was chosen after several trial and errors. It is my third one of this particular pattern type.  I started really small, around 5x7, then I went to 16x20, and now I am at 18x24.  My instructor has been encouraging me to go larger. I purchased a 3 foot by 4 foot but I have yet to start on it.  It seems a bit scary :/... I am now working on a warm painting with a small amount of coolness.... pictures to come :)

  7. I really like the mixture of warm and cool colors with the squares. It makes the image "pop." I really feel like this art has depth to it. It's very straightforward, which is a good thing in my opinion.
